Prisma color on 18 by 24 strathmore paper. Took around 30 hours.

I realize now that the photo is a bit blurry. Sorry about that!

I'm really happy with the face. I started getting frustrated at the hair around 2 class periods ago (10 hours) and I rushed it. I wasn't able to get the colors I wanted but I was limited by the number of colors I bought.

As always another beautiful drawing!!! well done!!!+fav
I really liked the way you done the texture of the lips and the hair!!!!

is this water based color pencils ?,I really don't know about artist's color pencils because in my area their are no artist's color pencils in the stores .
I tried few times with  regular color pencils, but I couldn't smudge it or shade it or blend it with other colors
are the artist color pencils so different like pastel or something like that?

Your picture is so realistic looking it resembles a photograph. Technically speaking, what type of techniques are you employing to make the face and eyes look so realistic? More specifically, is there a certain pencil stroke you're utilizing on the face? (i.e., little circles or lightly drawn ovals then a specific type of shading tool like tissue or cotton, etc.)

I'm planning to place an order with Prisma and would greatly appreciate knowing which pencils create this effect. You've inspired me to give it a try!

Face and eyes were definitely time consuming. I was excited about using a new medium so I worked slowly and built layers of different colors and it stands out compared to the rest of the drawing. I was holding the pencil horizontally and very lightly as to not add much to the paper with each stroke. I did use tissue paper to make it look smoother and the blurry photograph also makes it look smoother than it actually is in real life.

Try out color pencils and let me know what you think! Just be careful about depositing too much wax. Once it reaches that point, it's really hard to add anything to it or take away. The color pencils are mildly erasable but if there's too much wax on the paper it will create a smudge that will NOT go away. (bottom black blob)

Hi Prod44... thank you for the advice and for sharing your techniques. That will most definitely come in handy as I'll apply those concepts in my next piece.

I did place an order for some colored pencils so they should arrive shortly. I'm hoping by this weekend.

Best wishes...
Soph

Someone else pointed out that the roundness of her head is lacking proper lighting so after I fix that I think it will look much better. Thanks!! :)
